Although I am not a member of a church that is part of the Southern Baptist Convention, I do have a history in the SBC, and therefore wanted to post this video; not to mention that they are the largest Baptist denomination, have a wonderful history, and there currently exists a stirring debate on Calvinism amongst SBC churches. Whether or not one is a member of the SBC, as Baptists, we have a unique bond to them. This panel discussion took place during the SBC’s 2012 Annual Meeting (June 19-20). They discussed a plethora of topics, such as the conservative resurgence within the SBC, the inerrancy and sufficiency of the Bible, missions, traditions, and Calvinism. It is a really interesting dialogue, especially since these men don’t always see eye-to-eye on every issue, especially when it comes to Calvinism. However, in light of this, they are able to keep the peace and agree together in the Lord. I think we need more dialogues like this. While this of course doesn’t mean the issue of Calvinism isn’t important (as a Calvinist myself, I find it very important, especially when it comes to understanding the gospel, evangelism, and the glory of God), we must also remember that those who differ with us are still our brothers and sisters in the Lord.
